HOME SAFETY TIPS

In today's world you can never take to many precautions when it comes to the safety of your home and your family. Some safety tips you might not have ever thought of are:

  • If you notice you have a low window on the main floor you could always plants a thorn bush below so no one would try to get in that way.
  • Another thing to consider is if you have a glass entrance around your front door or on it make sure you can not see the security system if you have one.
  • Stashing important things you admire in your children's sock drawers instead of somewhere more obvious.

Carpet or hardwood/tile floors?

There are pros and cons to everything. it is personal preference on whether you want carpet throughout your home or hardwood floors. Carpet tends to snag and get dirty a lot faster and needs to be replaced every couple years or so when it is worn down and loses its touch. Hardwood floors can not snag and when they get dirty they are a lot easier to clean. All you would need for those is a steam mop or a swiffer of some kind.

You also do not need to do hardwood floors. There are the snap together tiles, porcelain tile, barn wood and much more. These types of floors usually last a lot longer because it does not ware and tear as quickly.

Carpet on the other hand has some good things about it also. With children, especially young ones who are learning to crawl and walk it is nice to have carpet for some kind of cushion. Also it does not get cold when winter comes unlike the hardwood floors.

So what would do you prefer? Carpet or tile floors?

Not to bright!

You wouldn't think that paint colors would be such a big deal, but they are. Yes, a house is your own touch, but watch for to bright of colors. Something that is soft and warm usually makes a room look bigger and brighter and also feels more welcoming to guests. If you are looking for a bit more color you can always add an accent wall to the room. Making one wall different than the others. Making a room all the same bright color as shown below, can be a bit to much on the eyes and make the room seem small and enclosed.

There are so many things you want to avoid when selling your home.

1.      Do not put it up for sale by owner unless you know exactly what you’re doing. A realtor will know what homes near you sold for and will get you the money for your house that you deserve.
2.      Becoming too attached to your home can become a problem. Yes you put years of hard work into it, but your opinion and someone who is looking at it might have a different one. If you are there for the open house or showing you need to pretend you are in there shoes. Let me speak their opinion without getting upset.
3.      Don’t be shy on the marketing end of the whole thing. Taking 3 pictures of the home usually turns a buyer away. Before making an appointment to see it they want to get a picture in their mind of what it looks like.
4.      If it’s broke fix it. When looking at a new home you expect things to be in good if not decent shape. If you have simple things such as a cracked cabinet or a door handle missing, replace it! It’ll be worth it in the end.

Arborvitae shrubs are becoming more and more popular as the years go by! You can add them to your landscape to make it look more full around the house and also they look mostly the same all year around which is nice! You can usually find them at any local greenhouse or even sometimes hardware stores such as Lowe's and Home depot!
Another great thing about the shrubs is that you can do less flowers, rock and wood chips to save you on time and money when it comes to perfecting your landscape.!

Here are some examples of what some look like!

Also another thing they love are farm sinks. French country is Joanna's "go-to" when it comes to decorating, but she has the magic touch when it comes to anything. Sick and tired of all the dog hair everywhere and you are to busy to vacuum everyday?, well this will solve your problems. The Roomba is becoming one of the "must haves" for a home. You can set it to go around and vacuum at a certain time of the time. It leaves the charging port and cleans the home and when it is done it goes back to the charging port. It is a smaller round vacuum, so very different from the rest, but works very well!
